Mompoint, Lloyd & Dieulène

Pastor Lloyd Mompoint is currently the senior pastor of United Evangelical Church in Haiti. He is married to the promised love of his life, Dieulène Mompoint. The Mompoints are the proud parents of Lloyd Junior, Neidjy, and Llory. They live in Delmas, Petion-Ville, in one of the poorest neighbourhoods in Port-au-Prince. In 2008, Lloyd accepted the role of senior pastor of the church, after being mentored and trained for over a decade by Reverend Hermann Sanon, the church founder. Prior to that, Lloyd was an entrepreneur and a broadcaster and spent most of his twelve-year career managing the development of advertising materials.

Lloyd looks to Apostle Alain Caron as a source of accountability, wisdom, resources, strength, and apostolic oversight. Lloyd has mentored a number of pastors in Haiti and leads a leadership-training program that is supported by PEER Servants Canada.

The lives of Lloyd and those in his congregation were forever changed when the 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti in January 2010. Because of God’s grace, Lloyd, his wife, and his three children survived the earthquake, despite sustaining severe injuries. Lloyd is so grateful for the support he received from his Canadian brothers and sisters during the dark days after the tragedy. He was overwhelmed by the love that was shown to him and his church. Nearly 300,000 people lost their lives, hundreds of thousands were injured and the property loss was unfathomable. The whole congregation was greatly affected by this devastating catastrophe; but they inspire Lloyd with their ability to be spirit-filled, despite the daily challenges they face.

Lloyd believes the Haitian church is God’s greatest weapon to fight poverty, self-hatred, hunger, and ignorance. Months before the earthquake, God made it clear to Lloyd that He was using him and his congregation as a tool to transform the poor neighbourhood where the church is located. Since then, the church has engaged in a spiritual crusade aimed at transforming lives. Today, the church is developing into an apostolic centre, impacting the community in a holistic way. Lloyd believes God’s word found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is for his community: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
